Color Difference of PPGI is another comment defect which the end users often come across. Last time, we introduced the PPGI Defect for paint stick and paint drop. Today, let us introduce another PPGI Defect-color difference and how to avoid it. Color is one of the most important specifications for PPGI. The color of PPGi is mainly affected by following sectors:
- The paint production batch of the paint manufacture.
- The paint coating structure
- The PPGI’s type
Even though the PPGI’s colour is same and all specification is conforming to the standard, different production batch PPGI may be seems slight visual visible colour difference. Meanwhile, the different production batch PPGI under different sun light condition may be exist color difference which will be affected the project’s aesthetic.
Case study I:
Two PPGI Coils which came from same contract could be found color difference by eyes. Co lour difference tester indicated the two coil’s color difference is 0.24 and 1.05.The PPGI was used for steel structure of airport.
Our Suggestion: If the color difference comes from two different PPGI coils, those PPGI sheets could not be installed in the one side.
Case Study II:
Benz Gallery: When the PPGI corrugated sheets were installed on the wall, some parts of wall showed colour difference.
Reasons: When the corrugated sheets were installed, some sheets were installed by reversing direction. Therefore, we suggest that when the corrugated sheets were installed, their direction could be installed reversely.
Case Study III:
The end user used the ivory white PPGI as the wall of factory. When corrugated the PPGI Coils, it was found that the colour difference is relatively large.
Reason: The color difference occurred due to the decreasing thickness of coating which is due to the low viscosity of the paint.
Gobic Industry recommends you the following three suggestions for avoiding color difference
- For the one project with one material, please do not split one contract into many contracts to install.
- One side wall or roof is used by the same contract’ PPGI
- The installation of PPGI sheets should be conformed to the rolling direction. Its direction could be reversed.
